A strong earthquake struck off the Island, Hokkaido in northern Japan on Thursday. The magnitude was 6.7 in Richter scale. But no Tsunami warning was issued.
The meteorological department said, the temblor hit about 12:25 pm (GMT 03:25) off the southern coast of the island, about 750km (470 miles) north of Tokyo, at a depth of 50km. No damages were immediately reported. Though heavy shaking of the quake was captured on video footage on NHK TV.
